Sound Performance Raven Chacon
Cooperation with The American Academy in Berlin
12 May 2018

Originally from the Navajo Nation, Raven Chacon (Albuquerque, New Mexico) is a composer of chamber music and a performer of experimental noise music. He will present an evening of two duo performances with his longtime collaborators Laura Ortman (Brooklyn, New York) and William Fowler Collins (Albuquerque, New Mexico). The improvised sets of both duos span amplified string noise, low frequency electronics that shake the architecture, layered field recordings played at a whisper and towering, clashing walls of static texture.

Chacon is a member of the Indigenous art collective Postcommodity, which premiered the two-mile land art/border intervention, Repellent Fence, in 2015. Postcommodity most recently exhibited at documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel.
