Nik Nowak in Conversation with Dr. Inke Arns
Discussion in Connection with the Exhibition Schizo Sonics

28 October 2020, 7 pm
Maschinenhaus M0

Video Artist Talk

With Schizo Sonics, Nik Nowak has realised a large-scale audio-visual installation comprising two powerful sound sculptures in the Kesselhaus at the KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art, in which he engages with the phenomenon of sound as a weapon and medium of propaganda: Panzer and The Mantis confront each other in the 20-meter-high Kesselhaus and point to political proxy wars that have been—and continue to be—waged with sound in different contexts. The artist created a 43-minute audio piece that distils original recordings, theoretical reflections, and a physically palpable bassline into a complex composition specifically for Schizo Sonics.

A discussion will take place between Nik Nowak and Dr. Inke Arns, director of Hartware MedienKunstVerein (HMKV) Dortmund, on 28 October 2020 in the Maschinenhaus M0 at the KINDL.

The conversation will take place in German.
