Witchcraft, body politics, new materialism: Alexandra Bircken and Delaine Le Bas both studied at London’s Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, but only met years later in Zimbabwe. Oliver Koerner von Gustorf (Writer, Berlin) talks to Le Bas (Artist, Worthing) about the queer, politicised club scene in London in the 1980s and 1990s, which also influenced Bircken. The discussion will cover gender and body politics, magic, animism, marginalised and persecuted bodies, and the question of how materialistic and spiritual thinking can be united.
