Curator and author Ulrich Loock and philosopher Marcus Steinweg open our discursive programme with a conversation about Tatjana Doll and her exhibition Was heißt Untergrund? The event will take place in the Maschinenhaus M0.
Ulrich Loock (*1953 in Braunschweig) works as a curator and author in Berlin. He has written extensively on contemporary art, including articles for kunstaspekte, Kunstforum International, Monopol, and Texte zur Kunst, and has organised numerous exhibitions with artists including with Sol LeWitt, Luc Tuymans, Katharine Grosse, and Tatjana Doll. He was deputy director of the Museu Serralves in Porto from 2003 to 2010, director of the Kunstmuseum Luzern from 1997 to 2001, and director of the Kunsthalle Bern from 1985 to 1997.
Marcus Steinweg (*1971 in Koblenz) lives in Berlin. He is a philosopher and professor of art and theory at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe. He creates independent philosophical diagrams of terms and has been working with the artists Thomas Hirschhorn and Rosemarie Trockel since the 1990s. Many of his texts and lectures focus on the intersection between art and philosophy. His most recent publications include Quantenphilosophie (Berlin, 2021), Metaphysik der Leere (Berlin, 2020), and Humor und Gnade in collaboration with Frank Witzel (Berlin, 2019).
