Nina E. Schönefeld

RIDE OR DIE

M1 VideoSpace

Nina E. Schönefeld (* 1972 in Berlin, lives in Berlin) works as an interdisciplinary video artist. The future scenarios in her art works are closely linked to current political, ecological, and social issues. Her video installation RIDE OR DIE (2024), shown for the first time at the KINDL, focuses on the moment of decision when relentless, radical resistance begins — against the political shift to the right in Europe and the threat to the separation of powers and freedom of the press.

In RIDE OR DIE, Nina E. Schönefeld tells a story of love and fearlessness. (...) The style is characterised by the many visual and stylistic quotes, which is typical of the 52-year-old artist. (...) You can tell from her video work that Schönefeld is a Berliner through and through. Not only does the soundtrack, characterised by the contrast of dark techno basses and baroque piano melodies, evoke associations with the local cultural scene, but almost all of the film's locations are set in Berlin.
[Nina E. Schönefeld erzählt in RIDE OR DIE von Liebe und Furchtlosigkeit. (...)
